Welcome to the website for the Friends of the Mansfield Public Library
in Mansfield, Texas.
Our Mission: The Friends of the Mansfield Public Library is a group of volunteers
who actively support the library and its mission through fundraising, promotion, and advocacy.
To join the Friends,
either stop by the library and pick up a membership brochure at the circulation desk, or print a membership form directly

Joining the Friends is a great way to support your local library and
to make a difference in your community.
To provide financial support for the library, the Friends operate
an ongoing used book sale, which raises thousands of dollars each year. The Friends also offer durable canvas book bags
in two sizes, plastic book bags, electronic time-keeping bookmarks, and "Really Big Coloring Books" for sale in
the library. Check out our "Products" page for more information on these items. If you have used,
recently published books, you can donate them to our used book sale and receive a tax deduction! Just bring your used
books to the circulation desk at the library.
The Friends also put on the fantastic "Mansfield Reads!"
program each year, in which a renowned author visits our city to discuss the particular book chosen for that year's program.
Different exciting events are scheduled each year to tie in with the book's theme. A Friday night "Author
Event" is scheduled in which the public is invited to meet the author face-to-face. Previous Reads! authors include well-known, award-winning writers Robert Olen Butler,
Paul Boller, Elmer Kelton, JA Jance, and H.G. "Buzz" Bissinger. The Friends also hosted its first Writes! program on Nov. 1, 2008, in which a panel of popular local authors
shared writing tips with an audience of aspiring writers. Many well-known authors were on hand to meet with fans.
